Description

FRONT PATIO OF LA CASA NUEVA FROM ITS WEST SIDE Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the front patio of La Casa Nueva, as seen from its west side, ca. 1941-42. The photographer stood on the flagstone floor aiming the camera toward the east. Much of the front wall is at right and center, including the front door, where most of the plaster surround and one of the sconces are visible; a cypress tree between the music room french doors and the front door; part of the second-floor balconies from the music practice room and main hall and the northern side of the master bedroom balcony. In the distance, behind a cactus-like tree, is a portion of the east side of the Mission Walkway. Behind the low wall at the east side of the patio are bushes that grew near to the living room french doors. At the reverse lower right corner is the penciled inscription "#13", while at center is either the number "81" or "18." Aside from some light discoloration and surface soiling, the object is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
