Description

FRONT VIEW OF PLASTER GNOME FOR LA CASA NUEVA'S WEST LAWN Color: Brown A color polaroid photograph of the front of a plaster gnome recreated for the La Casa Nueva West Lawn, ca. 1979. Seen from the face down, the piece is in gold and blue, including a shirt or tunic; a cup held in the left hand and the stockings and boots. A bright red mug is held in the right hand at the mouth. The figure is sitting on something, perhaps a tree trunk and the statue rests on a table top, where tools and pieces of plaster are scattered around it. The figure was out at the north end of the lawn area when the Temples lived on the site and this was recreated to be put in the lawn. After a short time, however, exposure and the consequent damage necessitated its removal and the figure is now in the Workman House. Because the area around the figure is largely in black, there are no other identifying features to the artifact, which is in good condition with little indication of wear or damage. Number-Units: 1
