Description
FRONT WALL OF THE WORKMAN HOUSE DURING PLASTER STRIPPING
Color: Brown; White
A color polaroid photograph of a detail of the original "granite block" plaster wall at the south porch of the Workman House during plaster stripping, ca. June 1978. The detail shows a section of the plaster with "block" lines clearly made out and many gouges on the surface where a more modern layer of cream-colored or yellow plaster was applied at some unknown date. At the left and bottom are small sections of the original adobe beneath the plaster. An ink inscription on the reverse reads "Workman Residence / Detail - south porch / at left corner of east / window / photo Jeff Tyler, Alhambra / R-5 #34 / ca. 6/78." Under this is the stamp of restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and phone number covered by a piece of tape. With no indication of significant wear or damage, the object is in good condition.
