Description
FULL FRONT VIEW OF PLASTER GNOME FOR LA CASA NUEVA'S WEST LAWN
Color: Brown
A color polaroid photograph of the front of a plaster gnome recreated for the La Casa Nueva West Lawn, ca. 1979. Seen in full, the piece is largely in gold and blue, including a shirt or tunic, stockings, boots, and a cup held in the left hand. A bright red mug is held in the right hand at the mouth. The figure is sitting on something, perhaps a tree trunk and the statue rests on a table top, where tools and pieces of plaster are scattered around it. A piece of wood is used as a support under the right arm. The figure was out at the north end of the lawn area when the Temples lived on the site and this was recreated to be put in the lawn. After a short time, however, exposure and the consequent damage necessitated its removal and the figure is now in the Workman House. In the background is a work table at right with tools and supplies on it; a set of shelving at left with undiscernible material on it; and a white wall. The artifact is in good condition with little indication of wear or damage.
