Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the garden to the south of La Casa Nueva's Courtyard, ca. 1920s. The photographer stood on the grass next to the walkway leading to the Tepee looking east. Three circular adobe planters are on the grass lawn and have flowers in them. At right is the part of the southern portion of the Mission Walkway with grape vines planted along the columns (not on the outside of the wall as the current vines are) and covering the arbor quite fully. To the left are the branches of a tree planted just outside of view. In the background center is the arched entrance leading to the driveways near the Water Tower. On the reverse upper left are two inscriptions: the first is in blue ink and reads "South Garden / Veiw [sic](arrow pointing to the right) East towards S. E. Entrance / Copied photo / R-10." Below this, in pencil by the hand of a former museum curator is "Source unknown / Workman and Temple Homestead." With little indication of wear or damage, except for some curling of the paper, particularly at the left edge, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
