Description

MAPS, "GENERAL MAP OF EXPLORATIONS AND SURVEYS IN CALIFORNIA," from Volume 11 of the USPRR transcontinental railroad report, 1853. The map shows the various routes proposed as practicable through the state, including one leading east from Los Angeles through the southern part of the San Gabriel Valley and along San Jose Creek just south of the Workman House. The map is very fragile with many tape-repaired tears, other tears, creases, browning, folds, and other wear and damage, so its condition is fair.
