"GEOLOGIC FORMATIONS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE OIL AND GAS FIELDS OF CALIFORNIA," PART II PREPRINT
Color: Black; White
A preprint of part II of "Geologic Formations and Economic Development of the Oil and Gas Fields of California" compiled by Olaf P. Jenkins (San Francisco: State of California, Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mines,) 1941. The 276-page hardcover book is a preprint of the 1943 edition and the collection has a 1948 reprint of that larger manuscript, which is bulletin number 118 of a series. The cover has the state authorities involved and the location specifically of the Division of Mines, the bulletin number, the compiler's name, the title, printing information, and the logo of the Divison of Mines. On the inside front cover is a list of authors contributing to the item and a list of the full contents of the larger bulletin. A table of contents, with an editorial note shows that part II comprises four chapters that concern an introduction to the state's geology; geologic history and structure; paleontology and stratigraphy; and occurence of oil. There are three fold-out maps, one showing the major oil fields in the state, and a a number of photographs, charts, tables, and other items for illustration. At the upper left of the front is a stamp from a previous owner. See item 2003.203.1.1 for the full bulletin. With a nearly detached cover; creasing, corner dents, soiling, stains, and tears on the cover, page yellowing, and losses to the bottom of the spine, the overall condition is fair.Lexicon
