95.20.2.5Description
Color: White
A geologic map of the western Imperial County mining district southern California, issued by the California State Mining Bureau and compiled by Lawrence Vander Leck and Fletcher Hamilton, 1920. The plate has the district laid out in township grids with the southern and eastern marking indicated at the left and center. Natural features, as the Salton Sea, at the top, mountain ranges, at the lower left; lines for creeks, rivers and canals; and place names for cities and towns. The location of oil wells and fields, with some company names, are scattered throughout the map. Railroad lines and state highways are also in several locations as well as boundary marked "Old Beach Line", possibly referring to the ancient Salton Sea. At the bottom is the boundary with Mexico. In good condition, the artifact has creases from being folded, as Plate IV, into item .10, Petroleum Resources of California, Bulletin 89 (Sacramento: California State Mining Bureau), 1921, and very slight discoloration.Lexicon
