Description

Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph of George H. Woodruff at the south porch of the Workman House, ca. 1925. This is a copy photo of an original snapshot with the backing for the copy work visible all around the original. Woodruff, wearing a dark three-piece suit, white shirt, dark tie, and dark shoes, stands with his right hand in his pocket on a concrete walkway close to the southwest wing of the house. Behind him is the western end of the south porch, in which the support posts are standing, but no railing attached to it. There is, however, a railing further back on the porch, perhaps for the basement access. Plants in pots and baskets are hanging and sitting on the porch and a few chairs are visible back against the wall of the house. A creened vent for the basement is visible as is part of the door into the main part of the house. Taken from a photo album of Thomas Temple's, mounting corners and inscriptions are seen, including this one reading "George Woodruff Esq." Above the image for the photograph above it in the original album is "Lupe [Vigare] Inez [Agnes Temple] Dominga [Vigare] and Tia [probably Luz Vigare, Laura Temple's sister.] On the reverse is a penciled inscription "oil wells, ca. 1920s, Montebello," which was on items .613 and .614, being views of the Montebello oil field. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
