Description

Color: Gold; Blue; Red; Yellow; Green An orange crate label for the Gladiola brand, grown and packed by the Covina Orange Growers Association, ca. 1920s. The labels have a blue border and a gold background, over which is the text and image. There are two gladiola flowers with dark green stems and red, pink, and blue flowers flanking the brand name and association name and location. A logo is at the center in a hourglass-like shape and blue, red, and green colors. The text reads "GLADIOLA / BRAND / ORANGES / GROWN & PACKED BY / COVINA ORANGE GROWERS ASS'N., / COVINA, LOS ANGELES CO., CALIFORNIA." At the lower left corner in very small letters is "SCHMIDT LITHO. CO. L. A." Because it is clear the label was never used and there is a lack of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
