Description

Color: Black; White A flier entitled, "Governor Smith and Labor," issued by the American Federation of Labor, August 1928. Printed with black ink, the title is at the top of the front. Printed on the front is an address given by William Green, President of the American Federation of Labor at the New York state Federation of Labor Convention. In the speech, Green refers to Democratic Presidential nominee Governor Alfred E. Smith's fight for labor's social justice in New York. Although Green points out that his association is non-partisan, Smith's fight for labor rights has won their support and therefore encourages working people to do the same. The back is a campaign contribution form at the top of which are the words "The Other Side of This Card / Convinces Me That / Governor Smith / Deserves My Support." At the center are the name and address of the Democratic National Committee. At the bottom is an area to write one's contribution amount and address. With only two small dents, one possibly made by a paper clip, browning of the paper, and a tarnish stain, the artifact is in good overall condition.
