"GRADUATES AND STUDENTS, CALLIES FLYERS SCHOOL OF AVIATION," EL MONTE
Color: Black; White
A panoramic photograph of "Graduates and Students, / Callies Flyers / School of Aviation" in El Monte, ca. 1919. The group of forty-six persons with identifying numbers and a list of names underneath are standing in a field at the airport. In the background are seven biplanes and many cars. There is also a small white building, a flagpole, and two signs for the airport at the right of center. A series of power poles indicate the line of Garvey Avenue stretching across the image. A gas station and adjacent buildings are at the left and there is another home with a windmill and water tank at the far right. Groves of trees fill in much of the area in the distance. At the bottom of the image, underneath the names of those pictured is the titling, as well as the location and phone numbers for the airport. With adhesive at the edges of the front and back, discoloration on the back, light fading of the image, stains on the back, and tears along the edges, one at the bottom right of center, and at the back, the overall condition is fair.
