Description
Grand Avenue looking south from north of Fifth Street, Los Angeles, 1920s. The photographer stood on the east side of Grand and captures several downtown buildings, including the Savoy Hotel, the Bible Institute of Los Angeles and the grounds and facade of the formal State Normal School, signed as "Normal Hill Center." This site is now the Central Public Library. The brick paved portion of Grand ascending Bunker Hill changes to asphalt just above Fifth and there are cars parked along Grand. On the reverse is a pencil inscription, probably recent, reading "Original / Grand Ave: / L.A." Aside from some curvature and slight edge wear, the condition is good.
