Description

"Ground Breaking Ceremonies, Pacific Firestone Plant, Dec. 15th, 1927," Graham Photo Company. The image shows a large crowd of persons gathered in front and to the side of a wooden platform, on which there are about two-dozen men seated and standing. One of these is standing at the corner near a Firestone pennant and appears to be a speaker. At the back of a platform is a large board with a projected image of the plant and the name "Firestone of California." The plant was built in Bell Gardens, a suburb just outside of Los Angeles, opening in 1928. At the lower right is the caption and a number "67115." On the reverse is a stamp for the photographer. With a few stains, some soiling, and light edge rubbing, the condition is good.
