80.19.23.1Description
Color: Green
A scrapbook, belonging to Thomas W. Temple II, containing registers of events for Los Compadres de San Gabriel; events associated with the Mission San Gabriel; and personal events at the home of Temple and his wife, Gabriela, 1944-1961. The book consists of two sections of three-hole punched particle board with the front cover painted green and painted decorations, including the Temple family crest; its motto "Temple quam dilecta" above it; and the name "Thomas Workman Temple" below. Though the back cover is also painted green, there are no other inscriptions or marks on it. There were three wire sections used for binding, but only two remain and these no longer hold the contents together, which are loose. Most of the sheets are registers with signatures of attendees for Los Compadres' event "La Noche de Serenata" from 1952 to 1961. Other sheets have registers for events, such as the "Bells of San Gabriel" and a San Gabriel Woman's Club dinner in 1946 and 1947. Toward the back are pages with inscriptions and greetings from friends and family for birthdays, anniversaries and dinners at the Temple home, ranging from 1944 to 1946. Other than tearing loose from the bindings, there is discoloration; some stains; and creases on the pages and the covers have scratches and stains, so the artifact is in fair condition.Lexicon
