2002.89.48.3Description
Color: Black; White
A photograph of guests observing the dedication and blessing of the Walter P. Temple Memorial Mausoleum in El Campo Santo Cemetery, 24 April 1921. The view is of the western end of the cemetery, with the entrance at the left at the mausoleum off-camera to the right. Persons stand in a group at a distance from the ceremony, leaving views of lawns, planter beds, and sidewalks in the foreground. At the right is a priest and a few observers, including a young boy in short pants, probably Edgar or Walter, P. Temple, Jr. Behind the priest and a few persons to the left, in a lighter suit, is Walter P. Temple and next to him in black and veiled is his wife Laura. Just left of center and at the edge of a sidewalk is John H. Temple with white hair and beard. On the reverse is a faint stamp from The Photo Shop at 108 West Main Street in Alhambra, where the Temples then resided, and, at the bottom right corner, is the stamped number "47." With several areas of staining, dented corners, and creases, the overall condition is fair.
