HACIENDA BUILDING EAST OF GARAGEEntry/Object ID

Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of the "Hacienda" outbuilding, ca. 1942. This structure, taken when the site was occupied by El Encanto Sanatorium, is a one-story rectangular shaped structure with a flat roof and covered porch with sloping roof. Round cement columns support the porch roof. A sidewalk leads from where the photographer is standing to near the front of the building, where one branch leads off to the right and the other to the door of the structure. At the nortwest corner of the "Hacienda" is a small tree, which obscures that corner. Behind the building at right are a row of palm trees. The "Hacienda," probably the former house of Frank Romero, ranch foreman for the Temples, and his family, stood to the east of the garage and south of Evergreen Lane. On the reverse top is an ink stamp reading "036K." At the bottom in pencil, by a former museum curator, is the inscription "B. B. [Bob Brown] says building was taken down by Browns. / East of car garage." Aside from light surface soiling and very light discoloration, the object is in good condition.
