Description

Color: Blue, silver A hair brush, part of a 12-piece blue enamel dresser set, ca. 1920s. There is a handle with sterling silver underside and a blue enamel top, which also extends along the underside of the brush area and has a radial-line design emanating from a center point and having fleur-de-lis-like patterns at the end and middle where the handle and brush area meet, as well as the appearance of a beaded edge. The base, from which the bristles extend, may be of celluloid and the bristles are of a natural color. There are two points on the edges where fasteners hold the brush base in place. The maker's mark with an engraved "F & B" and "STERLING" is toward the middle on one side of the rim. In good condition, the artifact has light fading of the silver on the handle and light scratches on the enamel side.
