Description

HAND MIRROR FROM 12-PC BLUE ENAMEL DRESSER SET Color: Blue, silver A hand mirror, part of a 12-piece blue enamel dresser set, ca. 1920s. There is a 5 3/4" long handle with sterling silver underside and a blue enamel top, which also extends to the mirror portion and has a radial-line design emanating from a center point, changing to a horizontal line design at the handle and having fleur-de-lis-like patterns at the end of the handle and middle where the handle and mirror area meet, as well as the appearance of a beaded edge. The mirror section has a simple round frame with beveled edge. The maker's mark, consisting of "F & B" and "STERLING" are engraved at the edge of the handle. In good condition, the artifact has some dents on the edge of the mirror toward the end; fading of the silver; many, though light, scratches on the silver; and some rather heavy tarnishing toward the end of the handle.
