Description

Color: Black; White A baseball scorecard for a Harvard University game against Yale University at the former's home field, Soldiers Field, ca. 1923. The item has a bordered area on the front cover with "HARVARD UNIVERSITY / BASE BALL" at the top, the words "SCORE CARD" at the center with a fleur-de-lis like design, and the field name at the bottom. Inside are preprinted team rosters for the two clubs, and columns for innings, at-bats, runs, base hits, stolen bases, put-outs, assists, and errors. The scorecard was used and there are replacement players' names and numbers, a listing of total bases, and some figures at the top, in addition to the information in the columns. On the front is an ink inscription and there is evidence on the back that the item was pasted into a scrapbook. With the adhesive residue, spine separation, light creases and soiling, and a small ink blot on the front, the overall condition is fair.
