Description

HARVEY MORRIS RESETTING CAT'S HEAD, LA CASA NUEVA COURTYARD BALCONY Color: Brown A color polaroid photograph of Harvey Morris resetting the cat's head at the La Casa Nueva courtyard balcony, 22 February 1979. Morris stands on a ladder or scaffold (as seen in .913) and holds the beam from the bottom, while holding an undetermined tool in his right hand. The original carving had been badly damaged from exposure, with the wood cracked and the ears of the cat figure missing. Morris carved a new figure on a block of wood, which he is shown resetting. Above him is part of the balcony, including the rail and the roofline. Below and to the right of Morris is part of white plastered wall that supports the balcony. The photographer stood under the portico on the east side of the courtyard to take the image. At the bottom of the artifact in green ink is the inscription "Resetting Cats head After / Repairs. 2/28/79." In good condition, the object shows little indication of wear or damage. Number-Units: 1
