Description

Color: Brown A color polaroid photograph of a heater purchased for the fireplace in the Tepee, taken by project architect Raymond Girvigian, 28 September 1979. The heater is sitting on an unfinished piece of plywood in an unascertained location, undoubtedly being readied for cleaning. Cans of spray paint and, prsumably, primer, are at the left. A small ruler and pencil are in the foreground, as items of scale. The heater has two metal griles, one inside and of complex design, the second an exterior with two vertical and two horizontal crosspieces. At the lower right is the valve for connecting to a gas outlet. There are deposits at the top of the appliance. Behind the heater, there appears to be a spec book for the restoration of the site, perhaps for La Casa Nueva and the Tepee. On the reverse is an ink inscription by Girvigian reading "Teepee / gas fired (antique) / heater for main room / photo by archt 9/28/79 / (prior to installation)." Below this is a stamp with Girvigian's name, business address, and telephone number, covered by a piece of scotch tape. Showing little sign of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
