"Home Builders Catalog" for housing contractors, issued by the Home Builders Catalog Company, 1925. The 1032-page object is hardbound in blue cloth with gold lettering on the front for the title, at top, the name of the Holyoke Heater Company, original owner of the artifact, and the publisher. An image of a house is at center below the title. The spine has the title, a subtitle reading ". . . OF / HOME DESIGN / AND / CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS / SUPPLIES AND / EQUIPMENT," the year "1926" and the publisher's name and cities of business. An introduction and information on use are at the beginning, followed by a list of manufacturers whose products are contained in the work. Next is a product index, given in alphabetical order, after which is an index of trade marks. While a complete list of offered products is too lengthy, broader categories include exterior building materials (brick, stucco, shingles, lumber, etc.); flooring; wood details and furniture, such as doors, windows, breakfast sets, and cabinets; fireplaces; plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters; heaters and stoves; and construction supplies. The last half of the book consists of plans for houses and garages. Most products are accompanied by drawings or photographs and information such as model numbers, dimensions and prices. A plan index and advertisement for the Hartford Fire Insurance Company are at the back. The dedication and title pages are loose and the binding in general is unstable. Wear, tears and fading are on the cover, so the artifact is in fair condition.Lexicon
