Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of the auditorium at the Workman Homestead, with a black car parked in front of it, ca. 1925. The structure, formerly one of William Workman's winery buildings, has a long, steep gabled roof. An entrance is at the center with an awning supported by two poles over it. A lamp sconce is over the entrance. There are two square windows on the sides and a vent just below the apex of the roof. A variety of bushes and shrubs are planted in beds defined by concrete borders at the front of the building. In the foreground right is a black, soft-top coupe, though there does not appear to be anyone in the vehicle. In the background, just right of center, is the top of a palm tree, while behind the car are a few trees--all near La Casa Nueva, which is not visible. On the reverse the word "VELOX" is stamped onto the paper; a number "53" is stamped in ink at the lower right corner; and a pencil inscription, in the hand of a former museum curator, at the upper right reads "Brown", the name of the family who owned El Encanto Hospital on the Homestead grounds from 1940 to the 1960s and donors of the photograph. There appears to be little or no wear or damage to the artifact, which is in good condition.
