Description

Color: Black; Blue; Orange; Red; White "Honor Bilt Modern Homes," issued by Sears, Roebuck and Company, 1928. The 140-page artifact has a red paper cover with a drawing of a white two-story home surrounded by trees at the center. On the left of this is, "The / LEXINGTON / Described on / Page 21." To the right is, "FOR / EASY / PAYMENT / PLAN / See Page / 140." On the bottom in white and orange is the title, and the name and location of the company in blue. Along the spine is the title and, "FOR SALES OFFICES NEAREST YOU - SEE PAGE 1." On the top of the back is, "One House - or a Hundred." Below this is a drawing of a neighborhood and a certificate of guarantee. Across the bottom is a list of cities where the homes are exhibited. At the beginning is a note on monthly payments; a list of company office locations; a note on owning rather than renting; an index; and several articles on the convenience and construction of the homes. There are a variety of home floor plans available with such names as the "Van Jean," "Sheffield," and "Westly." Many sepia-color illustrations of the homes and their interiors, as well as line drawings of the floor plans, are included. With abrasions; creases; and small tears along the spine and some of the pages, the object is in overall good condition.
