The view is from an intersection and shows the front elevation to the left with two four-story blocks and a covered entrance between them. At the right is the side of one of the four-story sections. The ground floor appears to be store fronts with large plate-glass windows. The back of a streetcar, a truck, a few pedestrians, and a bicyclist are in the streets and a few lightposts and pedestrians are on the sidewalks. At the left are portions of other buildings on the same side of the street as the hotel. At the top is the caption "5119:-Hotel Montgomery, San Jose, California." At the bottom right is the number "10589." On the reverse of the unused card is a space at the left for a message and at the right for an address, these divided by the logo, name, and place of business of the publisher. At the top right is the word "POST / CARD", under which is the word "ADDRESS." At the upper right is a box for the stamp. With some surface soiling and dented corners, the overall condition is good.
