A house and farm near Los Angeles, A. C. Varela, Los Angeles, ca. 1878. The image shows a two-story Italianate residence with a water tower behind it and, at the right, a four-gabled barn and/or carriage house. Also of note is a broad lawn with newly-planted bushes and shrubs in the foreground. On the reverse are some initials and numbers, but, unlike most Varela images, there isn't a caption associated with the view. With much edge rubbing, a very weak upper right corner, creasing, some edge tears, and fairly heavy soiling, the overall condition is fair.Lexicon
