Description

Color: Black; Green; Purple; Red; Yellow; White "The House Beautiful," October 1929, published by House Beautiful Publishing Corporation. The front cover has the name of the publication at the top in white lettering on a black background. Below is a colorful image of a early 19th-century woman and two children raking and burning fall leaves near a house. At the bottom is the issue date, issue and subscription prices, and the notation that this issue was the "FALL DECORATING NUMBER." Features include articles on antiques; travel; sightseeing in New York; French Manor houses; French Provincial furniture; wallpapers and fabrics for fall; decorative screens; apartments; children's room decorating and furnishing; types of American glassware; landscape gardening; views on modernism; linen closets; modern lighting fixtures; painting the house; chairs; and others, including regular features. There are many photograph illustraions and plenty of advertisements. The front cover is separated at the bottom; there is cover brittleness, creases, soiling, stains (particularly on the back), and tears; there is page yellowing; there are losses to the top and bottom of the spine; and there is a slight musty smell, so the overall condition is good.
