A bound volume of "Hunt's Merchants' Magazine," Vol. XXIV, Numbers 5 and 6, May and June 1856, published by Freeman Hunt. The magazine has feature articles, a journal of merchantile law, a review of commercial conditions, national news, statistics on transportation (from railroads, canals and steamboats), mining and manufacturing material, poulation statistics and more. The main feature article in the May issue concerns California gold and its effects on commodities, wholesale and retail prices. The volume lacks its front cover and the remaining boards are badly worn and pages are browned, foxed, and fragile with some having tears, so the condition is poor.Lexicon
