Description

Color: Black; Orange; White Sheet music for "I Can't Give You Anything But Love (Baby)," lyrics by Dorothy Fields and music by Jimmy McHugh and published by Jack Mills, Inc., 1928. The song, from the stage musical "Blackbirds of 1928," is written for a ukulele arrangement by M. Kalua and there is a tuning instruction for this instrument. The front cover has the title at the top in a box with a white background. Under this is the title of the musical and an image of four blackbirds on a wood branch leading from a wooden birdhouse. At the bottom are the names of the composers. In a box at the bottom right corner are a list of songs from the musical and there is an ink inscription of the initials "J. H. S.," evidently of an owner. Below this is the logo of the publisher. On the inside front cover is a sample of a song and a list of popular songs offered by the publisher. The back cover features this song and three others from "Blackbirds of 1928" with photos of the composers and a list of four other songs from the production. The three-page score also has advertisements on the bottom of two pages for other Mills-produced items. With spine abrasions, cover creases, light soiling, a loss at the bottom right corner, and a few small tears on the cover and inside page, the artifact is in good condition.
