ILLICIT ALCOHOL STILL SEIZED, LOS ANGELES, DECEMBER 3, 1926
Color: Black; White
A press photograph by Pacific & Atlantic Photos, Inc. of a raided distillery in Los Angeles, December 3, 1926. The image shows the apparatus in what appears to be a warehouse and includes two large chambers, a large pipe extending from the top of the left chamber to its bottom, smaller pipes with valves between the chambers, a funnel, a bottle, a wooden ladder, and other items. Other than the bare walls and floor of the space, there is little of note concerning the building. On the reverse is a pasted credit line with a headline and caption for the image, providing information about what was described as "the largest and most completely equipped distillery ever seized in the west" and that the value of the three-story plant was about $150,000. There is also a pasted cutout from the newspaper in which the image appeared and the date December 12, 1926. There are several other inscriptions in pencil and other stamps, including that of the photography company. With soiling and paper residue on the reverse, a loss at the upper right corner and dented corners, the overall condition is good.
