Description

Color: Brown; Silver An Indestructo ice cream scoop, manufactured by Benedict, and patented in 1928. The artifact has a wood handle with grooves and the embossed names of the company and brand. A brass ring separates the handle from the metal portions which include a spring-supported lever with a checkerboard pattern on the pad, and a tube which runs from the lever to the scoop. Within the scoop section is a flat metal piece which runs along the inner curve to help scoop the product more smoothly and efficiently. On the underside of the lever is the imprint "INDESTRUCTO / NO. 6", while the patent date of July 3, 1928 is imprinted on a plate attached to the lever. The number "24" is imprinted on the metal piece within the curved scoop. With some tarnishing on the metal, fading on the handle, scratches throughout and some other light wear, the object is in good condition.
