Description

INSTRUCTION BOOKLET, KODAK NO. 2 CARTRIDGE HAWK-EYE CAMERA Color: Black; White An instruction booklet, "Picture Taking with the No. 2 Cartridge Hawk-Eye Camera (Model C)," published by the Eastman Kodak Company, March 1928. The front cover has the title, an image of the camera, and the company name and location in a simple dual black line border. The 27-page document contains advertisements for other company publications, including "How to Make Good Pictures" and the monthly magazine "Kodakery" at the front, followed by a page to record the owner's name and address. After a title page, there is a sheet giving film ordering information, important information on handling and light while taking pictures, and the table of contents. This last is in four sections: loading the camera; making the exposures; removing the film; and finishing the pictures. Along with instructions, there are many black-and-white photographs illustrating the operation of the camera. Mention of accessories, such as a sky filter for details in outdoor photography, and portrait and diffusion portrait attachments, is also included, as well as information on finishing pictures with a film tank, Brownie developing box, and dark room outfits. At the end is a price list of products, including processing and print charges. In fair condition, the object has cover creases, dents at the corners, surface soiling, stains, and tarnish from the staples, which were removed.
