Interior of an unidentified theaterEntry/Object ID
2008.149.1.7Description
Interior of an unidentified theater by George F. Clifton/Brack-Shops, Los Angeles, ca. 1920s. The view, taken from the balcony shows a few rows of seats, the orchestra pit, and the stage, which has scenery for a performance set around a tiny cabin in a wintry mountain area. Also of note is the large stage curtain and the curved staircase from the stage to the pit, the former of which looks identical to that of the Speckels Theatre in San Diego seen in item 1.9 of the accession, although the pit access is different. The theater may be the California, possibly owned by the same persons who owned the Speckels. The upper left corner is missing and there are creases, soiling and edge rubbing, so the condition is fair.
