Description

"IRRIGATING AN ORANGE GROVE, RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA" Color: Black; White A stereoview, "Irrigating an orange grove, Riverside, California," published by Underwood & Underwood, Publishers, 1902. The image shows a concrete above-ground irrigation ditch and a pumping unit with water streaming through the apparatus. A worker is behind the pumping unit and next to the ditch hoeing the ground near some orange trees, of which there are rows on both sides of the image. In the distance there appears to be a house or building among the grove at the right. At the bottom right is the caption and the copyright date of 1902. At the far left is the publisher's name and locations of business and at the right are the locations of their studios. The reverse has information about the southern California orange industry. With light soiling, minor discoloration, and slight fading of the image, and losses from pest damage or some other means at the left edge, the overall condition is good. Number-Units: 1
