Description

Color: White An Italian cut work and filet lace doily, ca. 1920s. The white colored artifact has 19 triangular fileted designs of various sizes on the edges. A tightly stitched border is within these designs and there is a solid field of fabric with eight fileted inserts of various shapes and tightly stitched boders. Within these areas are more closely stitched areas that don't appear to have particular patters. In between the areas are vine-and-leaf and five-part curved designs done in cut work and small embroidered designs of indistinguishable patterns. The latter curved designs are repeated toward the center with other smaller cut work designs and embroidered elements, as well. The center is a solid area without ornamentation. In good condition, the piece has little indication of wear or damage.
