Description

A red metal pencil box with a head-and-shoulder image and the first name of child film star Jackie Cooper on the lid, Wallace Pencil Company, ca. 1922. The photographic image of the actor shows him in a "ragamuffin" outfit typical of his role in Charlie Chaplin's "The Kid" (1921), hence the estimated date. The item has a hinge at the right and there is a paper lining that looks relatively new. Two wooden pencil sharpeners, perhaps of the era, are items .2-.3 of the accession. With heavy rust, stains, dents, pitting, and other damage, the condition is fair.
