Description
JOHN H. TEMPLE FUNERAL, ARRIVAL OF FUNERAL CARAVAN
Color: Black; White
A photograph of a funeral caravan arriving to the Workman Homestead for the funeral of John H. Temple, April 1926. The image is taken from the second floor balcony at the front of La Casa Nueva (hence the two dark lines running vertically down the image, which are from the iron bars on the grille.) Several black cars are entering the driveway that runs between the Workman House and La Casa Nueva from the drive that led into the property from Valley Boulevard. In the foreground is the undeveloped area in front of La Casa Nueva and the surrounding wall, including an area that was removed for the transport of construction materials. To the right are trees and bushes at the front of the Workman House, which is not, however, visible. In the background are buildings in the town of Puente and Puente Hill rising above it. At the center of the reverse is a stamp reading "WEBBS / APR 14 1926 / SAN JOSE," the date referring to the processing date. At the bottom right corner is the stamped number "30." Preprinted at several locations on the reverse is the brand name "VELOX" referring to Kodak paper. With some light discoloration and surface soiling, the overall condition is good.
