Description

JOHN H. TEMPLE FUNERAL, MOURNERS LEAVING THE CEMETERY Color: Black; White A photograph of mourners leaving El Campo Santo Cemetery after the funeral of John H. Temple, April 1926. The image is taken from just outside the cemetery with a man walking to the right, two women walking through the entrance gate, and a dog standing on the sidewalk just outside the gate. Other mourners are walking toward the gate or standing and talking outside the Walter P. Temple Memorial Mauoleum, much of the front elevation of which is visible. Regarding the entrance to the cemetery, the pillar and wall at the left are covered in vines, while the pillar and wall to the right are bare, though there are shrubs in the planters in front of the wall on either side. It is possible there was some exposure problems as there are vague shadings and shapes on the image that do not appear to be damage, but perhaps a double exposure. At the center of the reverse is a stamp reading "WEBBS / APR 14 1926 / SAN JOSE," and at the lower right corner is the stamped number "30." Preprinted at several locations on the reverse is the brand name "VELOX" referring to Kodak paper. With some light discoloration and surface soiling, the overall condition is good. Number-Units: 1
