2002.89.48.46Description
Color: Black; White
A photograph of the gravesite of John Rowland in El Campo Santo Cemetery, ca. 1932. Taken from very near the grave, the image shows the granite slab that has the inscription with Rowland's name, date of death, and age, and the lower portion of the obelisk behind the slab. To the right is the ground level stone for Rowland's son-in-law, John Reed. Grass surrounds these two sites and portions of the cast-iron fence for the burial plot is in the background. At the upper left, in the background, is a portion of the east elevation of the Walter P. Temple Memorial Mausoleum. Some palms, bushes, and other landscaping are noticeable, although the image is dark in the background. The photograph has a crinkled edge and there is a rectagular piece with two holes for mounting the image into a paper album, which is item 49.2. In good condition overall, the item has only minor reverse discoloration and paper bowing.
