Description

JOHN WALLIS WITH LA CASA NUEVA AUTHOR'S WINDOW RECREATION ELEMENT Color: Brown A copy of a color polaroid photograph of John Wallis with a mock-up of the author's window reproduction from La Casa Nueva, 11 April 1980. Wallis stands at lower right with a painter's brush in his right hand applied to the lower right quadrant of the mock-up. This is mounted on an "easel" a support apparatus mounted at a window that moves up and down and allows Wallis to work on the object with natural light behind it. The mock-up includes all four author's portraits, three of which have a tan-like paper or covering over them, while the lower left does not. This step appears to be preparatory to the final painting of the glass. On the reverse in black ink is the inscription "Temple Mansion / stained [which is written on a piece of correcting tape over another word] glass / author's door (in Library) / re-creation progress / John Wallis studio / artist at right at his / "easle" [sic] (sliding glass panel - up) / photo by archt. 4-11-80." Below this, covered by a piece of tape, is the stamp of restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and telephone number. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
