JOHN WALLIS WITH SHAKESPEARE GLASS PANEL, 1979
Color: Red; Brown; White
A photograph of John Wallis holding the Shakespeare glass panel for La Casa Nueva, ca. 1979. Wallis is to the left facing the camera and wearing a red shirt and eye glasses. He has gray hair and a white beard but only his upper body can be seen. He is holds up the Shakespeare stained glass panel to the sunlight which appears to the right of the image. The panel has a circle in the middle where the image of the playwright and poet is inset. He has shoulder length hair, a beard, and a white shirt with a black coat. Only his upper body is pictured. Around the circle are four different glass panels which feature leaf designs; a scroll is at the bottom with curved ends and the word, "SHAKESPEARE." In the center background is a gray brick wall and bright sunlight and to the left is a brown wall. To the right is a portion of a clear glass window with three panels. The photograph was taken at Wallis' studio in Pasadena where several of La Casa Nueva's stained glass windows were restored and recreated. With little signs of wear, the image is in good condition.
