Description

Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph of a drawing called Jornado del Muerto by W. H. Hilton, 1869. At the lower center is an emaciated bull walking on a trail with the bleached bones of a bull at the lower right and two graves marked by crosses at the lower left. In the background on the trail is a fallen animal and another cross-marked grave. The landscape is represented as thoroughly flat and barren. At the bottom left is the title, with the end of Jornado originally having an "a" with the "o" written over it. At the lower right is the artist's name and the year drawn, though the year also looks like 1859. On the lower right of the reverse is a stamp in faded black ink from the Henry E. Huntington Library and Art Gallery, from which the image was obtained. Other than some warping of the paper and a few stains on the reverse, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
