Description
A real photo postcard of an elephant at the Selig Zoo, Los Angeles, California. ca. 1920s. The Asian Elephant is covered in straw and has its trunk in its mouth. The elephant is in a dirt pin with some grass and has a chain on its ankle. Around the pin is a metal fence. There are structures, walkways, and trees visible in the background. The bottom left is labeled "Jumbo Trained Elephant / Selig Zoo." With some abrasion on the edges, early signs of foxing at the top, discoloration on the left side, fading, and the back has some soiling, the object is in good condition overall.
