Description
"Karte zur Ubersicht der Verbreitung der Indianer-Stamme in Californien," a reprint of a map by Stephen Powers by Justus Perthes from Petermann's Geographische, 1879. The map has much of Nevada included, but the focus is on California Indian tribes, geographically delineated by tribal name with varied colors. Locally, the Los Angeles area is represented as part of the "Sho-Sho-Ni" tribal group. Also of note is the presence of "Mission Graneros" in the La Puente area. There is a piece of paper glued to most of the left margi, but aside from original folds, some yellowing, and minor creasing, the condition is good.
