Description

Color: Blue; Brown "Kirsch Rod and Window Draping Book," issued by the Kirsch Manufacturing Company, 1925. The 30-page booklet has a blue paper cover with a drawing of the interior of a home foyer at center within an oval. On the top is the title and the year is below, both on a brown background. On the back is an advertisement of the company's curtain rods with an illustration of a woman sitting in a living room. Across the bottom is the name of the merchandise distributor. At the beginning are illustrations for draping and color suggestions and an introduction to the booklet. Also provided are decorating suggestions for single windows; double windows; groups of windows; windows of various types; casement windows; odd-shaped windows and doors; and door drapings and colonnades. There are also color schemes for the living room, dining room, sun parlors, and nurseries. Near the back are articles on how to make a pinch plaited valance; using extension rods, draw curtain equipment, and curtain hold-backs; a Kirsch window measuring chart; things people ought to know when buying curtains, drapery rods, and shades; answers to common questions; using a pilot thimble; and things to know when buying hardware for draperies. There are many black and white as well as color illustrations. With creases throughout the cover; folded corners; tears and pressure sensitive tape along the spine; losses on the back cover; and overall surface soiling, the booklet is in poor condition.
