Description

"KIT CARSON: THE HAPPY WARRIOR OF THE OLD WEST" Color: Brown "Kit Carson: The Happy Warrior of the Old West," by Stanley Vestal (Boston, New York, and Cambridge: Houghton Mifflin Company and The Riverside Press,) 1928. The 297-page hardcover book has a logo embossed on the front, probably for The Riverside Press. A short title, the author's name, and the publisher's name are on the spine. The biography is divided into sections on Carson's youth, years as a mountain man, experience on the plains, his explorations, service in the Mexican-American War, life as a rancher, service as an Indian agent, his Civil War service, and life in his later years. With many scratches, water damage, fading, adhesive, some stains, dented corners, and wear to the covers, and some page browning and foxing, the overall condition is fair.
