Knowles, Taylor & Knowles, soup serving dish with lid, ca. 1900-1920s. The soup dish (a) and lid (b) features a floral design of pink roses, and green leaves set against a black band and is round in shape. The design surrounds the top of the dish and edge of the lid. The tip of the lid handle, side handles and bottom portion of the dish are painted a gold, bronze color. Underneath the dish is a manufacturer's initials of "KT&K/S___V/CHINA/P.F.F." The initials indicate that the dish is semi-vitreous which means it is a type of ceramic made of material that is an ironstone and porcelain. It is considered china dinnerware but it is not fine china, nor entirely a true porcelain. KT&K is was considered one of the largest American manufacturers of china, other dinnerware and goods between 1850-1930s. With crazing found throughout, brown discoloration along the side of the base, a chipped section on the ridge of the dish opening, and scratches on the bottom of the base, it is still in good condition overall.
