"KOHLER OF KOHLER PLUMBING FIXTURE CATALOG, 1928"
Color: Blue; Gold
"Kohler of Kohler, Catalog K," a catalog of plumbing fixtures by Kohler Co., 1928. The hardbound artifact has a blue cloth cover with the name and catalog issue letter in golds letters on the cover and the company name and catalog issue letter on the spine. On the inside front cover is a item number and directions for operating the binder, which has a metal slide bar for inserting and removing sheets. On the bottom of the title page is a list of company branches throughout the United States. A color drawing shows the enormous company factory and, at the bottom, Kohler village, followed by nine pages about the company and the village, which was a company town. This is accompanied by black and white photographs of the factory and village and color paintings of idealized industrial scenes typical of the period. Page four details the various Kohler trade marks as signs of quality, which also is reflected in discussions of its enameling and plated brass products. A color chart is on page six, followed by applications of spring green, lavender and ivory colors in bathroom fixtures. Also highlighted are its "Mayfair" and "Metropolitan" lines of bath fixtures. After page 18, the binder is tabbed with sections on baths and showers; lavatories, sinks and drinking fountains; electric dish and clothes washing sinks; other sinks; clothes washers; toilets and urinals; accessories, like toilet seats, tumblers, clothes hooks, soap dishes, towel racks, and toilet paper holders and bath and shower fittings; and electric plants or motors--illustrated with drawings. Notes in pen are written at the back of the manual, which is in fair condition with soiling, stains, abrasions and overall wear, especially on the cover.Lexicon
