Description

LA CASA NUEVA AND MISSION WALKWAY CONSTRUCTION Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the northeastern portion of La Casa Nueva and the Mission Walkway under construction, ca. 1924. The house is at the left showing the unplastered adobe walls; the roof with the wood sheeting but untiled and the basic wood supports for the master bedroom balcony. The Mission Walkway has the lower section of the wall built and the first three arches in the process of construction. The adobe bricks are visible before plastering and there are some work horses, probably used as part of a scaffold platform, next to the wall. There are also a few plants, small trees and shrubs, next to the wall. The photograph was taken from the Workman House area and a wire fence with posts topped by small circular balls and a few plants are near the photographer. In the background right can be seen some of the surrounding area including a home. On the reverse center in pencil is the number "2." With little indication of damage or wear, the photograph is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
